So who are we?

Our Story….

Boardwalk Collective is a pioneer mission project of The Methodist Church in Ireland. We focus on helping people find hope and life in Jesus, through the fun and adventure of outdoor boarding activities. These include surfing, SUPing and skateboarding. We also offer transformational retreats in our residential centre located in the heart of Portrush.

A boardwalk is a place of sandy toes, where ocean adventures await. It is a place of journeying, of hope and of possibility. This life in Jesus is fun, real, open and deep. There is real and true joy to be found out on the waves and rails, that is given by our joy-giving God. The reality and exhilaration you feel is just as real as Jesus himself. We are adventurous, fun, real and open about life and who Jesus is. We hope for depth like the ocean: in conversations, in character and in faith.

Boardwalk Collective was born out of The Surf Project, a ministry committed to enhancing the spiritual, physical and mental health of young people, through the sport of surfing. Over 7+ years, The Surf Project faithfully and vibrantly ran events for thousands of young people from all over Ireland. COVID-19 and subsequent staffing changes provided a significant opportunity for prayer and reflection. After listening to local surf schools, business owners and people who love the North Coast, we felt that a more local emphasis was needed alongside a wider scope of activities.

Therefore, building on the success of the Surf Project, we will go broader than surfing in an attempt to reach people on the North Coast and beyond, seeking to grow the kingdom of God.

Our Values.

Fun

There is such fun to be had surfing waves and riding rails, playing beach games and exploring the coast on a SUP. There is also such fun and freedom to be found through life in Jesus!

Real

We are passionate about real faith in real life. We strive to be authentic about who we are, showing that Jesus cares about this real world and is just as alive today as the waves we surf and the rails we ride.

Open

We are for everyone: every walk of life, every background, every race and every age! We strive for an open faith—a faith that welcomes questions and a faith that we wear on our sleeve for all to see and hear.

Deep

In an anxious world yearning to be anchored to something of substance, we strive to have deep foundations in character and faith, encouraging those we work with to pursue growth and depth too, especially in relationship with Jesus.
